#9 Pace Pulls Away Late for 19-10 Win Over Men's Lacrosse

Pietz netted a team-high three goals for the Penmen

Records: SNHU 1-4 (0-4, NE10), Pace 7-1 (3-1 NE10)
(Pleasantville, N.Y.) – Senior Tristan Pietz (Dudley, Mass.) registered a team-high three goals, but the SNHU men's lacrosse team lost to No. 9 Pace University. 19-10 on Saturday afternoon at Pace Stadium.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Sophomore Jack Terrones (Anaheim, Calif.) – 2 goals
  • Sophomore Cody Fleming (Plaistow, N.H.) – 2 goals
  • Sophomore goalie Ronan DePaul (Elkton, Md.) 9 saves
  • Face-off specialist junior Gennaro Marra (Derry, N.H.) won 20 of 33 face-offs, recorded 13 ground balls.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Penmen trailed 4-1 early in the first quarter, but rallied to trim the lead to 5-4 at the end of the first.
  • SNHU tied it at 5-5 early in the second quarter, but Pace scored three straight and four of the next five goals to take a 9-6 lead at the half.
  • In a back-and-forth third quarter, Pace outscored the Penmen 6-4 and led it 15-10 after three.
  • It was all Pace in the fourth quarter as they scored the final four goals of the game to close out scoring.
NOTES
  • Pace outshot SNHU 49-37.
  • The Penmen held a 38-32 edge in groundballs for the contest.
  • SNHU won 20 faceoffs compared to just 13 for Pace.
  • Pace improved to 9-6 all-time against Southern New Hampshire in men's lacrosse, including four-straight wins.

  • The Penmen return to action returns to action next Wednesday at Assumption University (4 p.m.).  The next home game for the Penmen will be on Saturday, April 9 against American International College.  That game is slated to start at 4 p.m.
