Score: Southern New Hampshire University 11, Georgian Court University 4
Records: SNHU 2-1, GCU 1-6

The Southern New Hampshire University defense surrendered just four goals for the second consecutive day, and senior Daniel Trainor (Billerica, Mass.) registered a hat trick to lead the offense, as the Penmen men's lacrosse team posted an 11-4 victory over Georgian Court University on Sunday.

Senior Tyler Walsh (Northampton, Mass.) stopped seven of the 11 shots he faced in the Southern New Hampshire cage, and freshman Tyler Mello (Acushnet, Mass.) caused a game-high three turnovers and raked in five groundballs to anchor the defense. Trainor added an assist to finish with four points, while senior Keifer Heckman (Peabody, Mass.) chipped in with three points on two goals and an assist.

Despite playing its second game in less than 24 hours, the Penmen raced out to an early lead as junior Cam Rewucki (Dover, N.H.) found the back of the net off a feed from classmate Chris West (Albany, N.Y.) 47 seconds into the contest. Trainor buried his first of the afternoon 1:25 later, and Heckman extended the lead to three midway through the frame on his sixth of the year. Senior Zach Jacobs (Tewksbury, Mass.) wrapped up the first quarter scoring with 5:27 remaining in the stanza with help from Heckman to stake Southern New Hampshire to a 4-0 advantage after 15 minutes of play. Junior Corey Cairo (Wading River, N.Y.) netted the lone goal of the second quarter at 9:39, and the Penmen carried a five-goal lead into the half.

Heckman opened the third quarter scoring with his second of the day at 9:15 before Jacobs made it 7-0 less than a minute later. The Lions attempted to climb back into the game with two-straight goals at 10:27 and 11:59, but Trainor took a pass from sophomore Tom Schutz (Trumbull, Conn.) and potted a man-up marker with 1:52 left to push the Penmen in front, 8-2.

After Georgian Court added a goal late in the third, Rewucki tallied his second 1:14 into the fourth to reestablish a six-goal cushion. The Lions responded with 9:27 left in regulation, but Trainor set up Cairo with just under six minutes to play before he capped his hat trick with less than 10 seconds remaining.
