Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—The Southern New Hampshire University men's lacrosse team dropped an 11-8 decision to the Yellow Jackets of American International College on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Penmen fall to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in Northeast-10 Conference action, while the win breaks an eight-game winless streak for the Yellow Jackets, who improve to 1-8 on the season and 1-4 in NE-10 play.
James Sabino (Danvers, Mass.) and Peter Vacca (Billerica, Mass.) each scored twice for the Penmen, who led 6-4 at halftime. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Penmen 7-2 in the second half to earn the 11-8 victory.
Gary McKay (Billerica, Mass.) and Andrew Brown (Marshfield, Mass.) both added a goal and assist for the Penmen, while Joe Daly (Woburn, Mass.) and John Cuozzo (Norfolk, Mass.) added single goals. Keith Merluzzo (Billerica, Mass.) dished out three assists on the day for the Penmen.
For the Yellow Jackets, Dan MacIssac scored five goals. Aaron McNab added two goals and two assists, while Andrew Martin also contributed two goals. Mike Desire and Justin Ortega added single tallies for American International.
Brendan O'Brien (Hopkinton, Mass.) took the loss in net for the Penmen, giving up ten goals and recording 20 saves in 58:54 minutes of work. Eric Whettell earned the win for American International and recorded 17 saves. The Penmen posted 50-43 shot advantage against the Yellow Jackets.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Wednesday, April 13, traveling to Bentley for a 7:00 p.m. Northeast-10 Conference matchup.
