Penmen Rally to Force OT but Drop 3-2 Decision at Bentley

Southern New Hampshire University field hockey rallied late, but dropped a 3-2 overtime decision at Bentley on Tuesday evening in Northeast 10 Conference play.

KEY MOMENT
Bentley's Gracie Moore scored the golden goal just 1:31 into overtime, converting off a penalty corner from Lindsey Jacobs to lift the Falcons to victory..

NOTES·
  • Junior Jade Hendriks (Huissen, Netherlands) opened the scoring at 13:04 of the first quarter to give SNHU a 1-0 lead.
  • Bentley pulled even in the third on a goal from Jacobs, then went ahead early in the fourth when Nina Husak scored off an assist from Nicole Hartz.
  • Sophomore Julia Giampietro (Sandwich, Mass.) tied the game at 52:34, taking a swing at a ball in the air from a chip by junior Zoe Demers (Manchester, N.H.), to force overtime.
  • Demers recorded three shots on goal to go with her assist, while Hendriks also had three attempts.
  • Junior Minke van de Poll (Oosterbeek, Netherlands) added two shots on target.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Agustina Miranda Waigand (Miami, Fla.) finished with five saves for the Penmen.
  • Bentley goalkeeper Annie Lorenz earned the win with nine saves.
  • SNHU held a 13-12 edge in shots and an 8-6 advantage in penalty corners.
  • The Falcons lead the all-time series with the Penmen 9-8.  SNHU had won the previous four meetings between the teams.
  • 11 of the last 12 meetings between the teams have been decided by one goal.
