Sophomore Andrew Surprenant (Boscawen, N.H.) torched the course with a 4-under 68 in Tuesday's final round of the Granite State Opener, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team finished fourth at Beaver Meadow Golf Course.
INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
- Surprenant entered the final round at 1-over 145 after shooting 71-74 Monday. He wound up tied for sixth place, six strokes back of the leader.
- Sophomore Stephen Ramos (Danville, N.H.) tied for 15th at 1-over 217 after besting his opening-round 72 with a 1-under 71.
- Sophomore Sam Maurice (Auburn, N.H.) matched Ramos' 71 and his 1-over 217 (74-72-71).
- Junior Mitchell Cormier (Walpole, N.H.) turned in a 74 that was one shot off from his opening-round 73, as he tabulated a 225.
NOTES
- Senior Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.), who carded a 73 and 72, respectively, in the first two rounds, had his 80 dropped from the team score and finished at 225.
- Senior Evan Rollins (Laconia, N.H.), playing as an individual, submitted a 73 after going 76-68 Monday to tie for 15th at 217.
- Sophomore Charlie Blake (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), also playing as an individual, had his best round with a 75 that was two shots better than his opening-round 77. He finished at 231.
- Junior Drew Cameron (Londonderry, N.H.), another Penmen individual, totaled a 241 (80-78-83).
- Adelphi University (845) won the tournament with a 19-under that was eight strokes better than Assumption University (853).
- Adelphi's Johnny Solari (71/65/71) and Assumption's CJ Strong (70/68/69) tied for individual medalist honors with a 7-under 209.
- Granite State Opener was comprised of 63 golfers from 10 different institutions.
