In a high scoring match up between the cross-town rivals, junior
Kyle Lavigne (Bedford, N.H.) delivered an RBI double to give Southern New Hampshire University baseball a 12-11 win over Saint Anselm College Wednesday. While this was a non-conference contest, the Penmen secure the two points in the Queen City Cup by clinching the regular season series with Saint Anselm.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- St. Anselm took an early lead in the top of the first inning off of a two-run single from Brenden Harris.
- In the second inning, the Hawks extended their lead to three on a wild pitch to bring home the runner on third.
- A single from Colon in the bottom of the second inning brought home junior Chris Leone (Newton, N.J.) to cut the lead down to two. A Risedorf double brought home Colon from first to make it a one run game. Wachter hit a go-ahead home run to right field, which was immediately followed by a Jackson Marshall home run. The back-to-back home runs gave the Penmen a five-run inning and the 5-3 lead.
- After a quiet third inning, St. Anselm kicked off the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly from Peter Fischer. A single from Tommy Sears in the next at bat knotted the score at five. The Hawks continued bringing runners over the plate with a two bases loaded singles and a sacrifice fly to make the score 9-5.
- SNHU answered with a productive fourth inning of their own, with a bases loaded walk from Marshall bringing home a runner. A double from Pisano brought home two runners to make it 9-8. Graduate student Jorge Burgos (Santo Domingo, D.R.) hit a sacrifice fly to center field to tie the game at 9.
- In the bottom of the fifth inning, back-to-back RBI singles from Risedorf and Wachter gave the Penmen a two-run lead to make it 11-9.
- Senior Noah Wachter (Concord, N.H.) entered the game in the sixth inning. Wachter was relieved after a two-out home run from Owen McCarron evened the score at 11 a side. Cam Varney would enter as the final pitcher of the game for the Penmen.
- After a lull in scoring, Lavigne stepped to the plate as a pinch-hitter with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning.. Pinch runner graduate student Luca Giallongo (Mt. Shasta, Calif.) had previously stole second base prior to Lavigne's at-bat. Lavigne hit a double that was just inside the first base foul line to bring home the game-winning run.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Penmen finished with 12 hits, two errors and seven left on base, The Hawks had 11 hits, no errors and six left on base.
- In total, SNHU had six stolen bases to St. A's two. The Penmen also had three more walks and two more strikeouts than the Hawks.
- Risedorf led the Penmen with three hits, while three other Penmen having two hits each. Wachter led with 3 RBIs, with three other Penmen having two RBIs each. Wachter's two stolen bases also led the team.
- Redshirt sophomore Zachary Brassill (North Hampton, N.H.) - 3.1 IP, 6 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 2 BB and 4K.
- Sophomore Devin Divita (New Hartford, Conn.). - 0.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER and 1 K.

NOTES
- The Penmen snap a three game losing streak after losing the series to RV Bentley University last weekend.
- The Penmen extend their lead in the all-time series, improving to a 72-35 record against the Hawks. SNHU have won 12 of their last 14 against St. Anselm, after having their 9 game win streak against the Hawks be snapped last week.
- Marshall's long ball gives him 10 home runs and 38 RBIs in his freshman campaign. He leads the Penmen in both categories.
- Wachter launched his seventh home run of the year, giving his 32 RBIs on the season.
- Marshall has extended his hitting streak to eight games, stretching back to March 30th vs Assumption.
UP NEXT
- The Penmen finish off their 10 game home streak with 4 games this weekend. On Saturday, the Penmen will play Southern Connecticut State at 12:00pm and 3:00pm. On Sunday, SNHU takes on the University of New Haven at 12:00pm and 3:00pm.
- SNHU and Saint Anselm will meet again April 16th in the final NE10 match-up of the regular season. That game will be played at Saint Anselm College.
