Surprenant, Rollins Lead Way, as Men's Golf Sits First Through 36 Holes at NE10 Championship

Sophomore Andrew Surprenant (Boscawen, N.H.) fired a 2-under 69 in the opening round, and is in first place at 2-under 140, following 36 holes of the NE10 Championship at Candia Woods Golf Links on Wednesday. The defending champion Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team is in first place by eight shots.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
  • Surprenant followed his 69 with an even-par 71 and holds a one-stroke lead over teammate, senior Evan Rollins (Laconia, N.H.).
  • Rollins carded a 70 in the first round and then equaled Surprenant's 71 in the second round to finish the day 1-under.
  • Sophomore Sam Maurice (Auburn, N.H.) is tied for eighth at 5-over 145, as he shot a 73 and then a 74.
  • Sophomore Stephen Ramos (Danville, N.H.) turned in a pair of 75s and is tied for 15th at 150. He had his second-round 75 dropped from the team score.
  • Senior Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) is tied with Ramos at 150. He had his opening-round 79 dropped from the team score and then bounced back by firing a 71 in the second round to match Surprenant and Rollins.
NOTES
  • SNHU, which was picked third in last week's Pre-Championship Poll, is in search of its sixth NE10 title.
  • The Penmen are looking to repeat for the second time in their history (2001-02) and would be the first back-to-back NE10 Champion since Assumption University in 2021-22.
  • SNHU's 6-over 574 leads Adelphi University (582) by eight strokes.
  • Surprenant owns two of the tournament's six eagles and is the only golfer with more than one.
  • Ramos leads the field with eight birdies.
  • The NE10 Championship is comprised of 42 golfers from seven different institutions.
