Rollins Wins Granite State Opener, as Men's Golf Ties for Fourth

Score: Southern New Hampshire University – 595 (T-4th/13)

Sophomore Evan Rollins (Laconia, N.H.) turned in a 5-under 67 in the final round of the Granite State Opener on Tuesday to capture individual medalist honors, while the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team finished in a fourth-place tie at Beaver Meadow Golf Course in Concord, N.H.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
  • Rollins improved upon Monday's round by one shot to total a 9-under 135 that placed him first and tied the two-round school record.
  • Sophomore Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) shot a 78, adding to his first-round 75 for a 153. He tied for 37th.
  • Senior Alex Korkuc (So. Setauket, N.Y.), who also carded a 75 Monday, penciled in a 79 for a two-round total of 154.
  • Senior Nick Tufts (Auburn, N.H.), who had his 76 dropped from the team score in the first round, matched Korkuc's 154 by shooting a 78 in the final round.
NOTES
  • Junior Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.) had his 81 dropped from the team score. He carded a 75 Monday and finished with a 156.
  • Freshman Mitchell Cormier (Walpole, N.H.), playing as an individual, paired a 78 with Monday's 77 to submit a 155 in his first collegiate tournament.
  • Classmate Drew Cameron (Londonderry, N.H.), also playing as an individual, finished with a 161 (79/82).
  • Post University (581) won the tournament by a single shot over Assumption University (582), which made a late push to shoot even-par in the final round.
  • Rollins earned individual medalist honors by four shots over Post's Ethan Phillips. He matched the two-day school record of 135 by Matt Paradis, who went 66-69 to win the Franklin Pierce University Invitational at Brentwood Golf Club on ept. 12, 2016.
  • The Granite State Opener was comprised of 75 golfers from 13 different institutions.
