Julia Ragone scored in the 69th minute, as Queens (N.Y.) College handed the 16th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team its first loss of 2023 in a 1-0 decision at Knights Field.

  • With the match scoreless late in the 69th minute, Ragone beat three defenders before her shot from the top of the box sailed into the top left corner of the net.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Sophomore Claudia Keith (Danvers, Mass.) made a pair of saves.
  • Queens goalkeeper Erin Kelly stopped all six shots she faced for the clean sheet.
  • SNHU outshot Queens, 10-8, including 6-3 in shots on target.

NOTES 
  • Southern New Hampshire, ranked 16th in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 Poll, has its four-match unbeaten streak to begin season ended.
  • The all-time series is now even, 1-1-0. SNHU won the first meeting, 2-1, at home Sept. 18, 2013.
  • The Penmen were shut out in the regular season by a non-conference opponent for the first time since Aug. 31, 2018 when they were edged, 1-0, by third-ranked Mercy University.
  • Keith suffers the first loss of her collegiate career and falls to 4-1-1 in seven appearances. The goal she allowed was just her third on the 25 shots she has seen over 559:23.
  • The Penmen are now 47-20-14 (.667) over their last 81 matches dating back to the start of the 2017 campaign.

  • The Penmen are back in action Saturday, Sept. 23 (12 p.m.) when they take on Assumption University
