Freshman Alina Kupfer (Munich, Germany) was victorious at No. 2 singles to clinch an eventual 5-2 victory for the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team over Endicott College in its regular-season finale Tuesday afternoon at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Kupfer breezed past Ashley Keaveney, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 2 singles to push the Penmen out to a 4-0 lead. She and graduate student Verena Weindl (Munich, Germany) also staked SNHU to a 1-0 lead in doubles, as they blanked Ripley Uyeda and Lejla Guster, 6-0, at the top flight.
  • Weindl was a 6-3, 6-0 winner at No. 3 singles against Uyeda.
  • Senior Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) made quick work of Guster at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1. She combined with fellow senior Guntra Upeniece (Riga, Latvia) to clinch the doubles point with a 6-2 win at No. 2 versus Keaveney and Olivia Martinelli.
  • Upeniece was ahead, 6-3, 4-2, at No. 5 singles when she retired.
  • Sophomore Katelyn Nichols (Manchester, N.H.) defeated Samantha Hartmann, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 6 singles.
NOTES
  • Junior Eleonora Guglielmetti (Novara, Italy) lost a 6-1, 4-6, 10-5 decision to Martinelli at No. 4 singles.
  • Southern New Hampshire snaps its three-match skid.
  • SNHU improves to 2-0 all-time against Endicott, with the Penmen also defeating the Gulls, 5-2, at home back on April 7, 2019.
  • Hubickova, Upeniece, grad student Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) and senior Isabella Andrade (Cochabamba, Bolivia) were all honored in a Senior Day ceremony prior to the match.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The fourth-seeded Penmen open NCAA Championship play Monday, May 1 (12 p.m.) when they take on the fifth-seeded University of the District of Columbia in an East Region No. 1 first round match at Wilmington (Del.) University.
