Junior Shane Siegel (Selden, N.Y.) staked the ninth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team to a 1-0 lead in the 61st minute, but eighth-seeded Bloomsburg University rallied for a 2-1 victory in the opening round of the NCAA Championship tournament at Sodexo Field.

KEY MOMENTS
  • After a scoreless first half, Southern New Hampshire jumped on the board first midway through the 61st minute when Escobedo sent a low cross from the left, across the goalmouth to the right side of the box, where Siegel hammered it home to make it 1-0.
  • Bloomsburg tied it in the 65th minute when Stephen Hollis fired a shot from the left side of the box that squeezed inside the right post.
  • The Huskies went in front, 2-1, in the 77th off a free kick that led to a scrum in front after the ball was knocked down by a SNHU defender, but Kody Besser cleaned up the mess and put the ball in the back of the net.

  • Junior Preston Neal (Windham, N.H.) made a pair of saves.
  • Bloomsburg 'keeper Brady Rimple stopped six of the seven shots he faced.

NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire had its unbeaten streak ended at four matches (3-0-1).
  • SNHU, which was making its 23rd NCAA Championship appearance, falls to 21-17-6 (.545) all-time in the NCAA postseason.
  • This marked the first all-time meeting between the Penmen and Huskies.
  • Siegel's goal is his third of his first season with the Penmen and second in as many matches.
  • SNHU is now 132-37-24 (.746) over its last 193 matches dating back to the beginning of the 2013 National Championship season.
