(Goffstown, N.H.) -- The second-seeded Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team dropped the first match in doubles and singles, but responded to post a convincing 4-1 win over third-seeded Adelphi University in the NE10 semifinals. The Penmen, who improve to 10-1, advance to the NE10 Championship title match against top-seeded Le Moyne. Match time is 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 in Syracuse.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- No. 1 freshman Jonathan Berling (Moss, Norway) captured a win over Marko Jovanovic – 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
- No. 2 Graduate student Thomas Guy (Fulda, Germany) outlasted Gabriel Balestero, 3-6, 7-6, 7-5.
- No. 3Â Senior Emmanuel Vacalares (Cagayan de Oro, Philippines) captured a win to secure the match over Adi Saginayev 4-6, 7-6, 6-3.
- No. 4 Senior Fernando Torres (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) was beaten by Pietro Sole in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.
- No. 5 freshman Boris Stastny (Prague, Czech Republic) serving for the win when his match was halted by decision. He led 6-3, 6-5 over Thiago Negrao.
- No. 6 junior Zachary Duboulay (Castries, St. Lucia) also played a halted match, 3-6,
- The Penmen won at No. 1 doubles, with Berling and Guy edging Jovanic and Balestero, 6-4. Sole and Salomon Arce Lema won at No. 2 doubles over Torres and Duboulay 6-2. The Penmen earned the doubles point by winning at No. 3 doubles as Vacalares and Statsny won 6-4 over Negrao and Thomas Horsley.
NOTES
- The Penmen advance to the NE10 title game for the seventh time in the last eight years. They are 5-1 in the previous six appearances.
- Overall this is SNHU's eighth title game appearance; all since 2011.
- The Penmen are 10-3 lifetime against the Panthers including two wins this season.
- SNHU will play LeMoyne in the NE10 title game; the Penmen lead the all-time series against Le Moyne 15-6, including 2-0 in the NE10 playoffs.
- Le Moyne extends its winning streak to 20 with a 4-0 win over Franklin Pierce in the semifinals and has not lost since a season-opening 4-3 defeat to Division I Niagara on Oct. 9.
- SNHU ranks second in the most recent NCAA East Regional rankings.
- Berling, the recently minted NE10 Player & Rookie of the Year, improves to 10-0 in singles play for the Penmen.
- Guy and Berling are a perfect 7-0 in NE10 doubles play.
