Peeters Wins National Award

SNHU Freshman Named D2 Defensive Player of the Week

GENEVA, N.Y. - Freshman Emma Peeters (Wageningen, The Netherlands) of the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team was honored as the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced on Wednesday.

Peeters was named the NE10 Rookie of the Week and twice was named top goalkeeper. This is the first national honor for Peeters. The first-year player was in goal for both Penmen wins last week, leading the team to a Northeast-10 Championship playoff berth.  Peeters finished with the regular season with her second shutout of the season against Molloy College on Saturday.

Peeters  started 17 of the 19 Penmen games this season, compiling a 2.23 goals against average.

SNHU advanced to the Northeast-10 Championships, falling Tuesday 2-1 at top-seeded Saint Anselm College in the quarterfinals.
