KEY MOMENTS
- The Rams scored a pair of goals in the first period, and extended the lead to 3-0 heading into the third.
- SNHU closed to 3-1 at 6:02 of the third period when Muthersbaugh ripped a slap shot for the goal off a cross ice pass from Flynn.
- With momentum, and on a power-play, SNHU converted a fast break opportunity with Flynn working right to Lynch, who returned to Usalis to cut the Ram lead to 3-2.
- Framingham State secured its opening night with a goal by Dylan Marty at 16:35.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- SNHU outshot Framingham State 41-37 for the game and had a decisive 54-30 edge on faceoffs.
- The Rams finished the day 1-for-8 on the power play while the Penman couldn't convert on their five chances.
- Freshman Nathan Loisel (Blainville, Que.) made 33 saves in his SNHU debut.
NOTES
- Muthersbaugh scored a goal in his first game for SNHU. The defender was a member of the New Hampshire Avalanche (EHL) last season, appearing in 37 games.
- Usalis, a defenseman, scored the third goal of his career, but first since 2/4/20 vs. Post.
- Monreal handed out assists in each of the first two games for the Penmen, and was the only player to record a point in both.
- The Penmen are 26-14-1 all-time against Framingham State. The Rams snapped an eight-game winless streak with the win.
- SNHU has dropped the first two games of the season for the first time since losing a pair of games at Arizona State to open the 2015-16 season.
WHAT'S NEXT
- SNHU will play a pair of Northeast-10 Conference games next weekend at Saint Michael's College. The set starts with a 5 p.m. contest at Cairns Arena in Colchester, Vermont Friday.
