Freshman Joe Biddle (Andover, Mass.) scored his first career goal and sophomore Phil Heisse (Overland Park, Kan.) scored his first of the season, both on the power play, as SNHU snapped a losing skid with a 4-2 win over Stonehill Saturday afternoon at The Ice Den.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- SNHU opened the scoring at 15:11 of the first period with a power-play goal by freshman James Nash (Hampton, N.H.) His fifth goal of the season came off assists from freshman Joe Biddle (Andover, Mass.) and sophomore Joe Fiorino (Willow Grove, Pa.).
- The Skyhawks would draw even at 18:36 of the first on a goal by Charles Page to make it 1-1.
- The Penmen built a 3-1 lead after two periods on the power play goals by Biddle and Heisse in the second period.
- Stonehill trimmed the lead to 3-2 at 3:19 of the third period when Ryan Meade raise his stick to deflect a blast from Sean Conley by SNHU's goalie JT Kossakowski (Elburn, Ill.)
- Southern New Hampshire's final goal came when sophomore Travis Quigley (North Babylon, N.Y.) intercepted a pass at the Skyhawk blue line and went in to score his fifth of the season.
NOTES
- SNHU leads the all-time series with Stonehill 43-38-3. The Penmen won two of the three meetings last season.
- The teams split the two games at The Ice Den and are scheduled to meet once more on Tuesday, February 18.
- SNHU went 3-for-8 on the power-play in this game. Stonehill was 0-for-7.
- Southern New Hampshire held a 38-21 shot advantage.
- The Penmen snapped a season-long seven game losing streak with the win.
