Graduate student Abla Chadli (Rabat, Morocco) and junior Lindsay Baum (N. Salem, N.Y.) did not drop a game in their singles matches, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team took down Assumption College, 9-0, Sunday at the Assumption Tennis Courts.
Chadli defeated Cassie Burbine, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles, while Baum topped Maggie Holland, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
Sophomores Sofia Morais (Porto, Portugal) and Kaitlyn Poje (E. Stroudsburg, Pa.) began the day with an 8-4 No. 1 doubles victory. Chadli and sophomore Anna Sala (Matadepera, Spain) also won at No. 2 doubles by the same score.
The biggest challenge for the Penmen came at No. 3 doubles, where Baum and sophomore Rachel Wagner (Framingham, Mass.) were able to pull out a 9-8 (8-6) victory to sweep doubles.
After Chadli made it 4-0, Morais won in straight sets against Hannah Riley at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-4. Sala triumphed against Paige Benoit at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-2, while Poje flipped the scores to also flip Maria Monje, 6-2, 6-3. Wagner fairly easily handled Camille Latone at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-1.
Notes:
-Baum has now won 13 straight Northeast-10 singles matches and 14 of her last 15.
