Alexa Poulin (Tewksbury, Mass.) scored with 2:45 left in double overtime to lift Southern New Hampshire to a 1-0 women's soccer victory at Southern Connecticut Saturday evening.
Poulin intercepted a clearing throw from Southern Connecticut keeper Erica Ridella and ripped a shot from 20 yards out that got past Ridella for her first goal of the season.
Paige Salmon (West Hempstead, N.Y.) made seven saves en route to her first shutout of the season, while Ridella turned aside five shots.
Notes:
- Southern Connecticut outshot SNHU 15-12 while the Penmen took five of the game's eight corner kicks.
- Southern New Hampshire is off to its best start since 2012, when it also started 4-1.
- The Penmen improved to 2-1 in overtime this season.
