BOX SCORE

When and Where: October 25, 2015 – Rindge, N.H. (Sodexo Field)
Score: Southern New Hampshire University 2, Franklin Pierce University 1
Records: SNHU 10-3-2 (8-2-2 Northeast-10), FPU 7-8-0 (4-8-0 Northeast-10)

The Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team captured its 10th win of the season of Sunday as the Penmen moved past Franklin Pierce University, 2-1, at Sodexo Field. SNHU improves to 10-3-2 and moves into third-place in the Northeast-10 with an 8-2-2 mark entering the final week of the season. The Ravens now stand at 7-8 overall and 4-8 in the league.

The Penmen took a lead they would never relinquish in the 34th minute. FPU was unable to clear a corner kick from its own penalty area and the continuing play resulted in a handball against the Ravens. Senior Bridget O'Sullivan (South Grafton, Mass.) stepped up and connected on a penalty kick for her second goal of the season to make it 1-0 late in the first.

Southern New Hampshire doubled its lead less than 15 minutes into the second half when sophomore Trisha Luis (Lowell, Mass.) tallied her team leading sixth goal of the year. Junior Ali Walter (Marshfield, Mass.) sent a crossing pass up to Luis at the top of the 18, and Luis tucked the ball past the diving Franklin Pierce goalkeeper into the back left corner to provide the Penmen with valuable insurance at 58:35.

In the closing minutes of the contest, the Ravens were able to cut the SNHU lead in half. Nathalia Maria da Silva put a shot on frame and after her initial shot was denied, Amber Dempster was able to push the rebound into the back of the net with 3:19 left in regulation.

It would be as close as the FPU would come, as the Penmen did not allow another shot the rest of the afternoon. Sophomore Paige Salmon (West Hempstead, N.Y.) upped her personal record to 5-1-2 after making six stops in the triumph.

Notes:
- Luis' six goals through 14 games are twice as many than any Penmen had in 18 games a season ago.
- Southern New Hampshire overcame a 13-7 disadvantage in shots as well as a 7-5 deficit in shots on goal.

What's Next:
The Penmen host Saint Anselm College for Senior Night on Wednesday, Oct. 28 in a Queen City Cup clash at 6 p.m., before they close out the regular season with a trip to Adelphi University on Saturday at 3 p.m.
