EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Friday on the first day of the East Stroudsburg Invitational at Koehler Fieldhouse.  The Penmen fell to West Chester University 3-1, then fell to Barry University 3-1 in the nightcap.  The Penmen are now 4-4 on the season.

Against the Golden Rams, the set scores were 20-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-18, while against the Bucs the scores were 25-20, 25-15, 19-25, 25-16.

In the opener, the Penmen were led by Nina McGouldrick's (Richardson, Texas) 11 kills.  Kathleen Schurman (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and Kendra Mikuta (Orland Park, Ill.) finished with 15 digs apiece, while McGouldrick had 14 and Maeghan Higgins (Hesperia, Calif.) 13.  Catherine Cotton (Murphy, Texas) handed out 38 assists.

Schurman led the way for Southern New Hampshire in the nightcap with her nine kills, while Marisa Coronis (Hudson, N.H.) added eight.  Higgins recorded a match-high 21 digs, while Cotton notched 35 assists.

Southern New Hampshire is back in action at the East Stroudsburg Invitational Saturday, facing Bloomfield at 2:00 p, and the host Warriors at 6:00 pm.  The next Penmen home match is scheduled for Tuesday, October 7, when Franklin Pierce University visits for a 7:00 Northeast-10 contest.
