Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LANTANA, Fla. – The Southern New Hampshire University baseball team continued its program-best start Sunday, sweeping Concordia (N.Y.) College by scores of 8-1 and 5-2 at the Santaluces Complex.  The Penmen improved to 8-0, while the Clippers now stand at 0-6 on the season.

In the opener, senior Brad Monroe (Hampton, N.H.) became SNHU's all-time leader in career strikeouts, fanning nine in a complete-game effort while scattering seven hits and walking two.  His 203 career strikeouts surpass the 199 recorded by Mark Perec from 1996-99.

Southern New Hampshire broke the game open with a six-run bottom of the second as it sent 11 men to the plate.  Jon Minucci (Madison, Conn.) delivered a two-run single, while Matt Boulter (Wrentham, Mass.) recorded a two-run double.  Brendan O'Brien (East Bridgewater, Mass.) also worked a bases-loaded walk to bring in Minucci.

The Penmen tacked on single runs in the third and seventh innings.  In the third, Jamie Wollerman (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) led off with a single and scored on a single by Alejandro Diaz (Old Bridge, N.J.).  O'Brien led off the seventh by reaching on an error and scored on a single by Al Stanton (Sandwich, Mass.).

Minucci, Wollerman and Andy Lalli (Lakeville, Mass.) led Southern New Hampshire with two hits apiece as the Penmen outhit the Clippers 11-7.

In the nightcap, Southern New Hampshire scored in each of the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead.  In the top of the first, Kyle McGinnity (Northboro, Mass.) led off the game with a walk, then scored when Boulter grounded out.  In the second, Minucci recorded a one-out single, then after stealing second and third, scored on a groundout by Bryan Toland (Wildwood, N.J.).

After Concordia got a run back in the bottom of the second, the Penmen scored three times in the top of the sixth.  Wollerman worked a bases loaded walk to score Stanton, while Boulter would score on a sac fly by Minucci.  Lalli scored the third run of the frame following a single by Toland.

Both teams collected five hits in the nightcap, with Kevin Spatkowski (Bristol, Conn.) recording a pair.  Minucci's single extended his season-opening hit streak to eight games.  Junior Mendez (Patchogue, N.Y.) worked six innings of the seven-inning contest on the hill, allowing four hits while striking out six.  Alex Powers (Brewster, Mass.) allowed a hit and recorded a strikeout in the seventh to record the save.
