Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H.—The Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to the River Hawks of UMass Lowell on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action. With the loss, the Penmen fall to 4-4-0 overall and 2-3-0 in NE-10 action, while the win boosts the visiting River Hawks to 4-2-2 overall and 3-1-2 in league play.
The River Hawks would score their first goal of the game with 11 minutes remaining in the first half. Courtney Stefano drew the Penmen defenders to the left side of the field and fired a cross to Gia O'Connor on the right side, who one-touched the ball to the upper left corner of the goal. The River Hawks would carry the 1-0 lead into half time.
In the 64th minute of the game, UMass Lowell's Maddy Bissaillon scored on a free kick taken 25 yards out from the goal to give the Penmen the 2-0 advantage.
Southern New Hampshire goalkeeper Maggie Weldon (Manchester, N.H.) tallied six saves in net. River Hawks goalkeeper Jill Carlson also recorded six saves on the afternoon as UMass Lowell outshot SNHU 18-14 on the afternoon. Both teams posted an even 10 shots in the second half.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Franklin Pierce for a 7:00 p.m. Northeast-10 Conference matchup.
