WORCESTER, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire University ran its win streak to five with a 9-0 Northeast-10 men's tennis victory over Assumption College Wednesday afternoon. The Penmen improved to 9-5 overall and 9-1 in the NE-10, while the Greyhounds are now 2-8 and 1-6 in the league.
In doubles play, the third doubles tandem of John Niland (Cheshire, Conn.) and Tim Hamilton (Hampton, N.H.) pulled out a 9-7 victory over Nate Lafond and Rich Jakiel of Assumption after trailing 7-6. In singles play, Jared Wright (Norwell, Mass.) got the biggest challenge at the No. 4 spot, but defeated Pat Murray in three sets, prevailing 6-4, 2-6, 10-8. Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia) remained unbeaten in NE-10 play with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles.
Southern New Hampshire closes out the regular season Saturday when it travels to American International College for a 1:30 match.
