GOFFSTOWN, N.H. – Top-seeded Southern New Hampshire University advanced to the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Men's Tennis Championship with a 5-0 win over No. 8 Assumption College in quarterfinal action Tuesday afternoon at the Allard Center. The Penmen improved to 11-5 and advance to Thursday's semifinals where they will host either fourth-seeded Adelphi University or No. 5 seed Stonehill College. The Greyhounds see their season come to a close at 5-10.
The Penmen swept all three doubles matches, with Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia) and Alex Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) posted an 8-1 victory at No. 1. Mitchell Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) and Jared Wright (Norwell, Mass.) were 8-2 winners at No. 2, while John Niland (Cheshire, Conn.) and Tim Hamilton (Hampton, N.H.) were 8-6 winners at No. 3.
In singles play, Arango-Campo and Mukdaprakorn picked up points at No. 2 and 3 singles. Arango-Campo was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 2, while Mukdaprakorn was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 3.
Southern New Hampshire is making its second-ever Northeast-10 semifinal appearance, the first coming in 2009.
