Box Score

MANCHESTER, N.H.Greg DeSantis (Trumbull, Conn.) totaled 19 points to lead Southern New Hampshire University to a 74-60 non-conference men's basketball victory against Queens (N.Y.) College Saturday night at the SNHU Fieldhouse.  The Penmen improved to 6-5 overall, while the Knights dropped to 3-6.

DeSantis finished 7-8 from the floor and knocked down both of his three-point attempts.  Aleksandar Dobrovic (Podgorica, Montenegro) finished with 14 points, while Elijah Bonsignore (Felton, Del.) added 13 points on 5-9 shooting.

Jeremiah Mordi led Queens with 16 points, while Daniel Watson registered 14 points and Khalil McDonald had 10 points and nine rebounds.

The Knights knocked down their first five field goal attempts, including three three-pointers, and opened up a quick 13-3 lead 3:16 into the game.  Southern New Hampshire countered by scoring 16 unanswered points, and a three by Phillip Tripodakis (Athens, Greece) with 10:20 to go in the first half.  The Penmen extended the run to 31-2, taking a 34-15 lead at the 7:41 mark on a three by Lucas Croteau (Rochester, N.H.).  The hosts took a 48-23 lead into the locker room.

Queens outscored the Penmen 12-4 over the first six minutes of the second half to pull within 17, 52-35, on a layup by Pat Piasecki.  That would be as close at the Knights would get until the final minute, when Mordi knocked down back-to-back threes to make it 70-57 with 1:25 left.

Southern New Hampshire shot 55.9% from the floor and 53.8% behind the arc in the opening 20 minutes and finished at 44.8% overall and 45% from three for the game while limiting Queens to 36.8% shooting for the contest.  Both teams grabbed 37 rebounds.

SNHU is idle until December 30 when it travels to Brookville, N.Y. for a game against C.W. Post.  Tipoff is slated for 7:00.
