MANCHESTER, N.H.— Four different players scored for the Penmen as the Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team posted a 4-0 win over the Falcons of Bentley University Wednesday evening at Larkin Field. The victory closes out regular season play for the Penmen, whose record stands at 10-6-1 and 9-5-1 in Northeast-10 Conference play. The Falcons see their season come to a close, posting a final record of 0-15-2 and 0-13-2 in NE-10 play.
The Penmen's current winning streak of six games is the longest since the 1997, when the Penmen won nine-straight. Southern New Hampshire has posted five shutouts in the last six games.
Andrea Wilson (North Kingstown, R.I.) posted her second goal of the season in the 35th minute, giving the Penmen the early 1-0 advantage. Off of a Kaleigh Roberge (Manchester, N.H.) corner kick, Wilson collected the rebound that trickled away from the Falcons goaltender and found the back of the net. Roberge collected the lone assist on Wilson's marker.
Three goals were scored by the Penmen in the second stanza. Alyssa Thayer (Hooksett, N.H.) kicked home a penalty shot goal 1:20 into the half to double the Penmen advantage. Ashley Jaskula (Palmer, Mass.) collected her third goal of the season in the 71st minute, as she collected a cross-crease feed from Ariel Teixeira (Warren, R.I.) positioned at the right post following a Roberge corner kick.
Emily Mongeau (Westborough, Mass.) scored an unassisted tally for the Penmen in the 78th minute after kicking a ball from midfield that bounced over the opposing keeper. In total, six different Penmen recorded a point in the contest.
Maggie Weldon (Manchester, N.H.) earned the shutout in net for the Penmen, making three saves in the process. Kara Smith halted two shots on net for the Falcons, who were outshot 20-9 in the game.
Southern New Hampshire enters Northeast-10 Conference tournament play as the No. 5 seed and will travel to No. 4 American International for a 1:00 p.m. matchup at Abdow Field Sunday. The Penmen fell to the Yellow Jackets at home on October 5 by a score of 1-0.
