FLUSHING, N.Y. - Senior Willem van Biezen (Sassenheim, Netherlands) defeated his brother, fellow senior Bas van Biezen (Sassenheim, Netherlands) after they each ran through five opponents to make the singles bracket finals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional Championship on Monday at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Bas was nearly knocked out in the quarterfinals against the No. 6 seed, but rallied from down 8-2 to win the third-set tiebreaker, 12-10. That was one round after he toppled the No. 1 seed in a match that needed three different tiebreakers to be settled.
