Senior Sebastian Stezewski (New Britain, Conn.) set the tone with a goal 3:42 into the match as the third-ranked and top-seeded Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team posted a 3-0 victory against eighth-seeded Saint Michael's College in a Northeast-10 Championship quarterfinal meeting Tuesday evening at Larkin Field.

The Penmen, the three-time defending Northeast-10 Champions, advance to the semifinal round and will host fourth-seeded Bentley University, which was a 3-2 victor against Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday evening, Friday, Nov. 6 (7 p.m.) at Larkin.

Southern New Hampshire broke through in the fourth minute when senior Jonathan Lupinelli (Mont de Marsan, France) delivered a free kick from just inside the right corner flag into the right side of the box where Stezewski volleyed it through traffic and into the right side of the net.

The Penmen nearly doubled their lead in the 21st minute when graduate student Sofiane Tergou (Bitche, France) wound up with the ball on his foot at the top of the box and hit a strike that was stopped by diving Saint Michael's goalkeeper Nicco Roque. Less than two minutes later, Tergou ripped a one-timer from the right side of the box that Roque gobbled up to keep it a one-goal game.

The match went to halftime with the Penmen leading, 1-0, but it didn't take long for the hosts to change that in the second half. SNHU made it 2-0 just 57 seconds in as Tergou blasted one from the top of the box that Roque made the stop on, but junior Michael Rowley (Cooperstown, N.Y.) ran onto the loose ball and volleyed it past Roque for the goal.

Tergou stretched the lead to 3-0 in the 58th minute with an absolute laser into the left side of the net from the top right corner of the box after tapping in a short corner kick to Lupinelli and then receiving the ball back.

Southern New Hampshire senior goalkeeper Nick Zucco (Ludlow, Mass.) preserved the shutout just 31 seconds later as Daniel Castano was awarded a penalty kick, but his shot to the low right corner of the net was knocked away by a diving Zucco.

Zucco made five saves, while Roque turned away 10 shots.

-SNHU outshot Saint Michael's, 20-11, including 13-7 in the second half, and also held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks, with a 6-0 gap in the second stanza.
-The Penmen have now won 10 straight Northeast-10 Championship matches, as well as 12 of their last 13.
-SNHU is now 62-3-3 overall dating back to Oct. 23, 2012.
