Men’s Golf Predicted to Finish Third at 2019 Northeast-10 Championship

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team was picked to finish third in the 2019 Northeast-10 Championship, according to the NE10 Coaches' Poll released by the league office on Thursday. The reigning champion Penmen received a pair of first-place votes and totaled 65 points.

The 2019 Northeast-10 Men's Golf Championship begins on Sunday (October 6) at the En-Joie Golf Club in Endicott, New York and concludes with the final round Monday.

Assumption College took top billing in Thursday's poll with 71 points and three first-place votes. Le Moyne College, the championship's host institution, slotted in second with 69 points and a league-high four first-places tallies to edge out Southern New Hampshire. Franklin Pierce University (58) and Bentley University (55) rounded out the top-five, with the Ravens receiving the remaining first-place vote.

The College of Saint Rose checked in at No. 6 with 38 points, and the Golden Knights were followed by Saint Michael's College (36), Saint Anselm College (25), Adelphi University (17) and American International College (16).

The Penmen are in search of their third Northeast-10 Championship in five years after capturing crowns in 2018 and 2015 – both of which came at the En-Joie Golf Club. Southern New Hampshire, which finished as the runner-up in 2016, is also seeking to become the first back-to-back NE10 men's golf champion in six years.

SNHU returns three of its five championship participants from a season ago, all of whom finished in the top-10 of the event. Senior Ryan Anderson (Beverly, Mass.) finished in a tie for fifth in 2018 and earned a spot on the All-Championship Team, while sophomore Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass.) was seventh and senior Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.) was ninth.

Freshman Jared Mscisz (Danvers, Mass.) headlines a contingent of first-time student-athletes attempting to lead the Penmen to their fifth team title. Mscicz is a two-time Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week recipient after finishing third and sixth, respectively, in his first two collegiate events.
