Sanders Nets First Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week Honor


MANSFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Jacari Sanders (San Antonio, Texas) of the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team was chosen as the Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week for the period ending Nov. 24, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Sanders notched 12.0 points, 3.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 steal per contest, while shooting 50 percent (9-18) from the field, during a 1-1 week for the Penmen. Sanders chipped in five points (2-8 FG, 1-1 FT), four assists, two rebounds and a pair of steals in Wednesday's 77-71 defeat of Stonehill College, before erupting for a career-best 19 points (7-10 FG, 5-10 FT), including 14 in the second stanza, to go with three rebounds and three helpers in an 87-86 loss at Assumption College on Saturday.

Sanders and the Penmen return to action Tuesday (Nov. 26) at 7:30 p.m. when they play host to crosstown-rival Saint Anselm College at the Stan Spirou Field House. The game will air on WGIR 610-AM.
