MANSFIELD, Mass. – Senior Laura van der Doorn (Beverwijk, The Netherlands) of the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team was named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday, as the league announced its weekly award recipients.
van der Doorn totaled nine points in two games last week, as the Penmen opened their 2019 campaign with a pair of contests in South Carolina. van der Doorn provided all the offense in Southern New Hampshire's, 3-2, double-overtime setback at No. 10 Limestone College with two goals before collecting two more scores and adding an assist in an 8-0 win at Converse College. With her two goals at Converse on Sunday, van der Doorn took sole possession of the program's all-time goal scoring record (25) and extended her lead as the school's career points leader to 63.
The Penmen (1-1) continue non-conference play on Wednesday (September 11) when they host Northeast-10 foe Saint Michael's College on Larkin Field at 6 p.m.
