LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team was recently named a recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the third consecutive season.
With a 3.574 GPA, volleyball was one of a record 1,126 teams, including 142 in DII, that were honored by the AVCA with the Team Academic Award. This is the third straight season the team has received the honor. The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
In addition to earning this award, the team also garnered the Northeast-10 Team Academic Excellence Award earlier in the month for recording the highest GPA in its conference for the third straight year.
