CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The Southern New Hampshire University women's golf team was named the Division II recipient of the third annual Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Mark Laesch Award on Thursday, presented to one team in each of the three divisions based on improvement in adjusted stroke average per individual round from the 2017-18 to 2018-19 season.

The Penmen earned the award with an improvement of 24.37 in adjusted stroke average per individual round. Without using adjusted ratings, SNHU averaged a 337.9 per round this season, after shooting 363.3 in 2017-18 – an improvement of 25.4. Adjusted scores take into account the "conditions" of a course on any given day. For example, if the field entered a tournament averaging a 74 and then shot a 76 on day one, all scores would be adjusted down two strokes to account for whatever caused the group to collectively shoot worse. Likewise, if on day two the group averaged a 73, all scores would be adjusted up by one stroke. For more on adjusted ratings, click HERE.
