Volleyball Opens 2012 Campaign August 31
MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University volleyball team opens its 27-match 2012 schedule on Friday, August 31 when it faces the host Bears at the Kutztown University Classic in Kutztown, Pa. The Penmen will also face University of the Sciences and Virginia Union on Saturday, September 1 as part of the tournament. The hosts were 24-9 last season.
Following their Pennsylvania trip, the Penmen travel to Assumption for a non-league match before opening the home portion of the schedule on Saturday, September 8 with a tri-match. SNHU will host 2011 NCAA Tournament participant NYIT at noon and Post University at 4:00, with the Bears and Eagles playing in between at 2:00. Three days later, Southern New Hampshire hosts crosstown rival Saint Anselm in a 7:00 non-conference tilt.
The following weekend, SNHU travels to Nyack College on September 14 and a tri-match at Mercy College the next day, taking on the host Mavericks as well as Goldey-Beacom. After a pair of non-conference matches against Merrimack and Saint Michael's, the Penmen open up Northeast-10 play against the Warriors at home on Saturday, September 29.
The schedule the rest of the way consists of exclusively conference contests, with Senior Night coming against Bentley University on Tuesday, November 6. The eight-team NE-10 Tournament kicks off November 13, with the semifinals and finals taking place at the top remaining seed November 16-17.
