Volleyball Opens Conference Play with 3-0 Win Against Merrimack

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.—Megan Lesczynski (Pine Bush, N.Y.) tallied 11 kills and 11 digs to lead the Southern New Hampshire University volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Merrimack College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Thursday evening.  With the win, the Penmen improve to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in NE-10 play, while the loss drops the Warriors to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in league play. 

The Penmen posted game scores of 25-22, 25-19, and 25-20 to solidify the win.

In addition to Lesczynski, the Penmen were led by Ashlee Daoust (Brookline, N.H.), who tallied 10 kills and added eight digs.  Danielle Coffey (Westborough, Mass.) totaled seven kills and added five blocks for the Penmen.  Kendra Mikuta (Orland Park, Ill.) added ten digs for the Penmen defense, while Emily Winters (Kingston, Ontario) dished out a match-high 25 assists. 

Nicole Duarte led Merrimack with 11 kills and 12 digs.  Stephanie Sheehan posted seven kills and added eight digs, while Brianna Trabucco dished out 23 assists. 

The Penmen wrapped-up the three-game match hitting at .173 including a match-high .216 percentage in game three.  Merrimack finished the game with a .108 hitting percentage. 

Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday, hosting UMass Lowell in NE-10 Conference action at 4:00 p.m.
