MANSFIELD, Mass. – Senior Anna Sala (Matadepera, Spain) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team was named the Northeast-10 Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 21, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Sala, who garners the award for the second straight week, finished the season strong with a pair of wins in a season-ending 5-2 loss to Stonehill College on Saturday. Sala downed Isabelle Porter, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 10-5 at No. 1 singles and teamed with classmate Sofia Morais (Porto, Portugal) for a 6-1 defeat of Alexandra Vo and Annelise Howick at No. 1 doubles.
Sala was 8-6 at singles this fall, including 8-3 in NE10 play. She and Morais finished 12-2, overall, at No. 1 doubles, as well as 10-1 in league action.
Sala and the Penmen are now off until the spring.
