MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team will be looking to collect a 12th consecutive berth to the Northeast-10 semifinals, but hope to take that at least one step further and make its first final since 2013. The Penmen kick off the season Saturday, Sept. 1 (11 a.m.) when they play host to New York Institute of Technology in just its second match at the SNHU Tennis Courts at Penmen Stadium.
"We are going big right out of the gate this year by playing a powerful NYIT team," said head coach Greg Coache. "This match instantly lets us know how we stack up in the East Region. We then get two NE10 matches in before we leave for three days to compete at ITA's, which for the second year-in-a-row will be played at the U.S. Open facility, just six days after the conclusion of that tournament. That's a lot of hard-hitting tennis in a two-week span. We should be more than prepared at that point to compete for the NE10 title, which I feel is well within our grasp this year."
