Sala Crowned NE10 Player of the Week


MANSFIELD, Mass.– Junior Anna Sala (Matadepera, Spain) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team was chosen as the Northeast-10 Player of the Week for the period ending April 1, the conference office announced Wednesday.

Sala, who also earned the award back on Oct. 24, went 2-0, as women's tennis was edged by Roberts Wesleyan College, 5-4, Friday. Sala fended off Nthabi Mogopodi, 6-2, 7-6 (5-3) at No. 1 singles to put the Penmen in front, 3-2, after she had teamed with classmate Sofia Morais (Porto, Portugal) to post an 8-5 win against Mogopodi and Andrea Gallardo at No. 1 doubles.

Sala and the Penmen wrap up their regular-season Saturday, April 7 (11 a.m.) when they take on Concordia (N.Y.) College in their first match at the new Penmen Stadium courts.
