Women's Tennis Falls to Clippers in NCAA Opener

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Second-seeded Concordia (N.Y.) College bested No. 7 seed Southern New Hampshire University 5-0 in the first round of the East Regional of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship Saturday afternoon at Queens College.  The Clippers improve to 15-6, while the Penmen see the season, which culminated in their fifth-straight NCAA berth, end at 16-9.

The Clippers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play and clinched the match with wins by Yuliya Plevako at No. 4 singles and Ana Mendes at No. 5.  In unfinished matches, SNHU's Alena Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) was tied 4-4 with Linda Eliasson at No. 1, while Diana Vamvakitis (Wading River, N.Y.) held a 6-2, 2-0 lead over Ala Kravchuck at No. 2.
