Women's Soccer Hosts Holy Family to Kick off 2012

2012 SNHU WOMEN'S SOCCER SCHEDULE

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team, coming off a trip to the Northeast-10 Conference semifinals last season, opens its 2012 schedule on Friday, August 31 when it hosts Holy Family University in a 4:00 non-conference tilt at Larkin Field.  The game, a rematch of last season's season opener in Philadelphia won by the Penmen by a 3-1 score, kicks off an 18-match campaign for SNHU.

Southern New Hampshire opens the season with four straight home games, opening NE-10 play on September 3 against in-state rival Franklin Pierce.  Two days later, the Penmen entertain Bridgeport in a non-conference contest.  The Purple Knights were ranked No. 1 nationally much of last season and have made five straight NCAA Tournament appearances.  Three days later, SNHU kicks off a string of 13 straight NE-10 matches when it hosts Adelphi, before the Penmen play their first road contest of 2012 September 12 at UMass Lowell.  A trip to defending Division II national champion Saint Rose is on the docket for Saturday, September 15.

SNHU's other non-conference contest comes late in the season as the Penmen travel to LIU-Post (formerly C.W. Post) on Wednesday, October 24.  Southern New Hampshire defeated the Pioneers 4-3 in overtime in a wild contest at Larkin Field in 2011.  Senior Day is slated for Saturday, October 20 against American International, while SNHU closes out the regular season October 27 at New Haven.

The eight-team Northeast-10 Tournament opens play with quarterfinal round action on October 30, with the semifinals coming November 2 and the championship match on Sunday, November 4.
