Teixeira Earns NSCAA/Continental Tire All-America Honors; Mongeau Named to All-East Team

KANSAS CITY, Kan.--Senior Ariel Teixeira (Warren, R.I.) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team has been named to the 2011 NSCAA/Continental Tire Division II All-America Third Team, as announced late last week by the NSCAA.  In addition, Teixeira has earned 2011 NSCAA All-East First Team honors, while fellow senior Emily Mongeau (Westborough, Mass.) has earned NSCAA All-East Second Team honors.

Teixeira, who is one of just 36 Division II women's soccer players to earn All-America honors this season, led the Northeast-10 Conference in assists with 12 while also adding six goals for a total of 24 points.  In addition to All-America honors, Teixeira has earned NEWISA First Team honors, Daktronics All-Region honors, Capital One Academic All-District honors, and was named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team for the third time in her decorated career.

Mongeau spearheaded a Penmen defense that posted five shutouts and limited opponents to just over 10 shots per game in 2011.  In addition to All-East honors, Mongeau has earned NEWISA Second Team honors, Capital One Academic All-District honors, and Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team honors.

The women's soccer program finished with a 10-8-2 overall record in 2011 and advanced to the Northeast-10 Conference semifinals for the first time since 2003, ultimately falling to Merrimack College 2-1.
