Teixeira, Abruzzese Honored by Northeast-10
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - Sophomore Ariel
Teixeira (Warren, R.I.) and freshman Daniela
Abruzzese (Parsippany, N.J.) of the Southern New Hampshire
University women's soccer team were honored by the Northeast-10
Conference as its All-Conference teams were released Friday
afternoon. Teixeira was named a First Team All-Conference
selection, while Abruzzese was selected to the league's All-Rookie
Team by the league's coaches.
Teixeira was named NE-10 All-Conference for the second time in her career, as she was a Third Team selection as a freshman. In 2009, she led the Penmen in scoring with 10 goals and three assists for 23 points, her 10 goals the most by a Penmen player in a single season since Lindsay Parks registered 11 goals in 2003. She recorded multiple goals on four occasions, and had game-winning goals in a 4-3 overtime win over Lincoln Memorial and a 2-1 win against Bentley.
Abruzzese appeared in all but one game for Southern New Hampshire as a freshman and was in the starting lineup as a defender 16 times. She helped the Penmen register three shutouts and hold opponents to one goal or fewer 10 times in 20 games.
