Big First Half Leads #14 Pace Past Women’s Lacrosse, 20-10

Senior Alexa Bedell (Londonderry, N.H.) scored five goals, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team was doubled up by 14th-ranked Pace University, 20-10, Saturday afternoon at Pace Stadium.

Junior Alexis Felt (Manchester, N.H.) would pull the Penmen within 2-1 less than five minutes into the contest, but Pace would rattle off 12 straight goals before Bedell found the back of the net on a free position with 2:12 remaining. The Setters would add one more in the final minute and take a 15-2 lead at halftime.

Bedell would tally her second of the day to open the second-half scoring five minutes in, with fellow senior Kennedy Daziel (E. Hampstead, N.H.) and freshman Dani Tompkins (Derry, N.H.) adding goals to make it 16-5. After the second Pace strike of the half, the Penmen scored five of the next seven, including three from Bedell, to make it a 19-10 game with less than a minute on the clock.

Notes:
- Sophomore goalkeeper  Alex Comeau (Haverhill, Mass.) did not stop a shot over the opening 17:04, while junior Leah Olansky (Bennington, Vt.) made four saves on 12 shots over the final 42:56. Jillian Oross made four saves for Pace.
- Pace outshot Southern New Hampshire, 30-16, including 19-3 in the opening stanza, and also held a 23-8 advantage in draw controls, with a 17-1 domination of the first half.
- The Setters were 5-for-8 on their free-position opportunities, while the Penmen went 4-for-7.
- Bedell's five points move her past Jennifer Parro (2006-09) and into third place on the all-time scoring list with 221 points. She also overcame Sherry Darrell (2008-10) for eighth place on the career goals list with 230.
