Julie Kraus Garners IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-America Accolades
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Senior Julie Kraus (Derry, NH) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team was named to the IWLCA/US Lacrosse Division II All-America Second Team for the second time in her career on Wednesday. In addition, Kraus was one of three Penmen to garner IWLCA All-Region honors as a First Team selection. Senior Libby Parent (Hinesburg, VT) and freshman Emily Mongeau (Westborough, MA) were Second Team All-Region choices.
Kraus was also a IWLCA/US Lacrosse Second Team All-America last
season and has also been named to the womenslacrosse.com
All-America team. One of two players to start all 18 games
for the Penmen in 2009, Kraus finished as SNHU's leader in both
ground balls (58) and caused turnovers (45) while her 39 draw
controls ranked second on the squad. Kraus, who graduated as
SNHU's all-time leader in all three categories, also recorded eight
goals and 15 assists for 23 points while serving as a tri-captain
this season. She was also a Northeast-10 All-Conference
selection for the third time in her career this season.
Parent, who also garnered IWLCA Second Team All-Region honors a
season ago, served as a tri-captain this season. Starting all
but one game this season, Parent led the Penmen with 44 goals
and 19 assists for 63 points. She recorded one goal in
all but one game this season and was named both Inside Lacrosse
National Player of the Week and NE-10 Player of the Week following
a week in which she totaled 17 points, including a goal and six
assists in a win over nationally-ranked New Haven. She
graduated as SNHU's all-time leader in goals and points, and was a
Northeast-10 Second Team All-Conference selection, the fourth time
in her career she was named to the All-Conference team.
Mongeau, who was the Northeast-10 Co-Freshman of the Year as well
as an All-Conference selection, appeared in all 18 games for the
Penmen this spring. She ranked second on the squad in goal
scoring with 37 goals, while her 41 points placed her fifth
overall. Mongeau recorded at least one goal in 17 of 18 games
and had a season-high four goals in wins over Merrimack and New
Haven. A one-time NE-10 Freshman of the Week selection,
Mongeau also registered a team-high 52 draw controls and her 44
ground balls ranked third on the Penmen. She also caused 31
turnovers to rank second in that category. Mongeau also
garnered womenslacrosse.com All-Rookie Team honors.
Southern New Hampshire finished its season 13-5 overall and reached the Northeast-10 championship game for the second straight year.
