PREVIEW: Women's Basketball Looks for Season Sweep of Saint Anselm Wednesday

THE MATCHUP: Southern New Hampshire looks to complete a season sweep of Saint Anselm Wednesday night.

THE COACHES: Karen Pinkos is in her eighth season as head coach at Southern New Hampshire...Pinkos has led the Penmen to six Northeast-10 Tournament berths in her first seven seasons and to the program's most victories since 1991 in 2011-12 while guiding SNHU to an 19-10 mark...she has compiled a 100-118 record with the Penmen, including a 72-63 mark since the beginning of the 2008-09 season...DeAnn Craft is in her fourth season as head coach at Saint Anselm...before arriving at Saint Anselm she spent six seasons as head coach at Division I Texas-Pan American, where she led the Broncs to a school-record 14 wins in 2008-09...prior to that she spent  four seasons as head coach at Lamar.

THE SERIES: Saint Anselm holds a 40-15 lead in the all-time series against SNHU...the Penmen have won 12 of the last 15 meetings, including a season sweep a year ago...in the first meeting of 2012-13, Southern New Hampshire posted a 59-45 win at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium...the Penmen opened a 30-20 halftime lead and limited the Hawks to 31% shooting for the contest...Sloane Sorrell and Victoria Wiseman led SNHU with 18 and 16 points, respectively, while Briana Jones led Saint Anselm with 13.

THE PENMEN: Southern New Hampshire has won four of six, but fell in its last game, 58-42 at American International...the Penmen are led by senior Sloane Sorrell...Sorrell, who garnered Northeast-10 Second Team honors a season ago, is averaging 15.3 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game while shooting 53.5% from the floor...Sorrell ranks second in the Northeast-10 in field goal percentage and sixth in scoring and rebounding...she sits just one point shy of moving into third place in career scoring with 1,359 points...Michelle DeRoma has knocked down a team-high 32 three-pointers and is averaging 11.1 ppg, while Victoria Wiseman is averaging 8.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game...Lorreta Rocha is averaging 6.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, while Deborah Lavalley and Brooke Springfield are each adding 4.3 ppg...the Penmen are shooting .421 overall, .321 behind the arc and .656 at the free throw line while allowing opponents to shoot .367 overall and .298 behind the arc...the Penmen are scoring 60.8 ppg while allowing 58.3 and outrebounding foes 40.5-34.9...SNHU ranks second in the Northeast-10 in field goal percentage defense and is fourth in rebounding margin.

THE HAWKS: Saint Anselm is coming off a 68-54 loss on Long Island against Adelphi Saturday afternoon...Briana Jones leads the Hawks with her 9.5 ppg average while also brabbing 4.6 rebounds per game...Allie Jones (no relation) is scoring at an 8.3 ppg clip while grabbing 5.9 rebounds per contest...Curran Leighton recently surpassed the 1,000 point mark for her career and is averaging 6.5 ppg, while Tori Lehr is adding 5.1 ppg...Saint Anselm is shooting .366 overall, .263 behind the arc and .677 at the free throw line while allowing opponents to shoot .401 overall and .346 behind the arc...the Hawks are scoring 50.8 ppg while allowing 57.3, while getting outrebounded 35.5-34.0.
