Sloane Sorrell, Christine Duffy Garner Northeast-10 All-Conference Honors

2011-12 NORTHEAST-10 ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Junior Sloane Sorrell (Berwick, Maine) and senior Christine Duffy (South Boston, Mass.) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team were each named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference Team announced Thursday morning.  Sorrell was named to the league's Second Team, while Duffy was a Third Team selection.

Sorrell (left), who has started all 28 games for Southern New Hampshire, leads the Penmen in scoring (15.4 ppg) and rebounding (8.2 rpg) while shooting 58.1% from the field.  She ranks second in the NE-10 in shooting percentage while ranking eighth in the league in rebounding and 10th in scoring, while her 29 blocked shots place her fifth in the conference.  A two-time Northeast-10 Player of the Week, Sorrell has reached double figures in scoring 21 times, including in each of the last 14 games, and has posted 10 double-doubles while leading the Penmen in scoring on 17 occasions and in rebounding in 18 games.

Duffy (right) has also started all 28 contests for the Penmen and leads all three NCAA divisions in assists with 8.4 per game while also recording 8.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.  Duffy has handed out at least 10 assists on nine occasions, including a career-best 16 helpers at Franklin Pierce February 8, tied for the top single-game effort in Division II this season.  A multiple-time Northeast-10 honor roll selection, Duffy also leads the NE-10 in assist/turnover ratio and set program records for single-season and career assists in 2011-12.

Southern New Hampshire (19-9) returns to action Sunday afternoon when it travels to Franklin Pierce for a Northeast-10 quarterfinal contest at 1:30 pm.
