Sloane Sorrell Collects NE-10 Player of the Week Accolades
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Junior Sloane Sorrell (Berwick, Maine) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team was named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday afternoon. It marks the second time this season that she has received the honor.
In a 2-0 week for Southern New Hampshire, Sorrell averaged 20.5 points and 10 rebounds per game while shooting 58.6% from the field (17-29). She totaled 19 points, including the 1,000th of her career, and recorded 10 rebounds and four steals as the Penmen upended Stonehill College 66-59 on Tuesday evening. Sorrell followed that up with a 22 points, 10 rebound effort on Saturday in a 67-57 win at Merrimack College.
On the season, Sorrell leads the Penmen in scoring (15.1 ppg) and rebounding (8.4 rpg) while shooting 57.9% from the floor. She has reached double figures in each of SNHU's last 13 games, averaging 20.5 points and 9.4 rebounds over that span while shooting nearly 60% from the field. She ranks among the Northeast-10 leaders in field goal percentage (2nd), blocked shots (5th), rebounding (9th) and scoring (10th).
Southern New Hampshire (19-8, 14-7 NE-10) closes out the regular season Tuesday night when it travels to Saint Michael's College for a 5:30 contest.
