Notes: The Penmen advanced into Friday's second round after rallying past Pace University in their regional opener Thursday. Southern New Hampshire trailed, 2-1, entering the home half of the seventh before capitalizing on a trio of Setter errors to plate the tying and winning runs. Freshman Emily Critch (Halifax, Mass.) reached on a two-base Pace miscue to start the frame before sophomore Jordan Wade's (East Taunton, Mass.) sacrifice bunt attempt was thrown away down the right field line, allowing the tying run to score and putting Wade on second with nobody out. After a base hit off the bat of senior Katie Horiuchi (Livingston, N.J.), sophomore Maddy Barone (Halifax, Mass.) connected on a sacrifice fly to right that drove in Wade with the game-winner. Senior Sarah Lavallee (Candia, N.H.) went the first six-plus innings in the circle and allowed just one earned run on five hits while striking out three. Offensively, Lavallee connected on a mammoth solo shot in the bottom of the second, which reached the concessions stand in centerfield on a single hop, and gave the Penmen a 1-0 lead. Barone picked up the win in the circle after closing things out in the top of the seventh before knocking in the winning run.

Notes: The second-seeded Hawks head into Friday's matchup after edging No. 7 seed Merrimack College in their lid lifter on Thursday, 3-2. Senior Megan Murrell (Scarborough, Maine) delivered what proved to be the game-winning single in the bottom of the fifth when she knocked in classmate Amanda Bickford (Salem, N.H.) with two outs to break a two-all stalemate. Saint Anselm rallied from a 1-0 deficit to take the lead after freshman Lauren Washburn (Carmichael, Calif.) and Murrell strung together a pair of hits in the fourth before being doubled in by sophomore Shannon Colson (Rochester, N.H.). After the Warriors scratched across the tying run in the top of the fifth, Murrell gave the Hawks the lead for good in the home half of the frame. Sophomore Morgan Perry (Bethany, Conn.) entered in the top of the sixth for Saint Anselm and mowed down all six Merrimack hitters she faced, striking out each one en route to earning the save.
