Penmen Claim Six Spots on Northeast-10 Men's Tennis All-Conference Teams
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team had a total of six Northeast-10 Conference All-Conference selections, the league office announced Wednesday morning.
Sophomore Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia) was named to the First Team at No. 1 singles, while the doubles tandem of Arango-Campo and sophomore Alex Mukpdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) also garnered First Team accolades. Sophomore Mitch Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) and freshman Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) were First Team honorees at No. 2 doubles, while Mukdaprakorn and freshman Brad Malenich (Sharon, Mass.) earned Third Team nods at No. 3 and 5 singles, respectively. Finally, Wallace was named to the league's All-Rookie team.
Arango-Campo, who was last season's Rookie of the Year, finished with a perfect 11-0 mark at No. 2 singles in league play, the second straight season he has gone through the NE-10 unbeaten. Overall this season, Arango-Campo is 18-3 in singles play, including a 17-2 dual match record.
In doubles, Arango-Campo and Mukdaprakorn were 7-0 in league play at the No. 1 spot and 8-5 overall, while Dobek and Wallace finished 10-0 in league doubles action, including a 6-0 mark at No. 2.
Mukdaprakorn finished with a 6-1 mark at third singles before suffering an injury late in the season and with an 8-6 overall record in dual singles matches. Malenich posted a 4-2 record at No. 5 singles and a 6-2 overall league singles ledger.
Wallace, in addition to his doubles record, posted a 6-3 singles record in conference play, including a 4-1 mark at No. 4 and a 2-2 ledger at No. 3.
Southern New Hampshire, the third seed in the Northeast-10 Tournament and currently the No. 6 team in the East Region, returns to action Thursday afternoon when it travels to second-seeded Bentley University for a NE-10 semifinal match.
