Men's Tennis Remains Unbeaten in NE-10, Edges Stonehill 5-4
EASTON, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire University took two of three doubles matches en route to a 5-4 Northeast-10 men's tennis victory over Stonehill College Thursday afternoon at Watt Tennis Courts. The Penmen won their fifth in a row to improve to 9-6 and 8-0 in the NE-10, while the Skyhawks now stand 11-3 and 5-2 in the league.
SNHU earned victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles play. Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia) and Alex Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) were 8-6 winners over Eric Ringstad and Nick Hyzak at No. 1, while Mitch Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) and Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) prevailed 8-5 over Aaron Bergeron and Jan Summers.
The two teams split six singles matches, with the Penmen posting triumphs at No. 2, No. 4 and No.6. Arango-Campo was a 7-5, 6-2 winner at No. 2, while Wallace took down a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4. Brad Malenich (Sharon, Mass.) needed three sets to down Jared Drzal, but bounced back for a 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 victory to clinch the match.
Southern New Hampshire travels to North Andover, Mass. to tangle with Merrimack College in a noon match. The Penmen and Warriors are two of three unbeaten teams remaining in Northeast-10 play.
