Greg Coache Named ITA Men's Regional Coach of the Year
MANCHESTER, N.H. – Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis coach Greg Coache has been named the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region Coach of the Year, it was announced recently. It marks the second time that Coache has received the honor, as he was named the ITA East Region Coach of the Year in women's tennis in 2009-10. Coache coaches both the men's and women's tennis programs for the Penmen.
Coache, who was also named the Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year, guided the Penmen to a share of their first-ever Northeast-10 regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the NE-10 Tournament, as well as an appearance in the Northeast-10 finals where they were edged by Bentley 5-4. Southern New Hampshire set a single-season program record for victories, going 12-7, while the Penmen made their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Individually, SNHU featured the NE-10 Player of the Year, the Conference's Rookie of the Year as well as a total of nine All-Conference selections.
Coache inherited the SNHU men's program midway through the 2009-10 season and owns a career record of 15-15. In four seasons guiding the Penmen women's program he has led SNHU to back-to-back Northeast-10 regular season and tournament championships in 2010 and 2011 and three straight NCAA Tournament appearances while compiling a record of 58-16 (.784).
